What a European car asks for
European cars are not harder to fix — they are just less forgiving of being guessed at. Torque specs, service intervals, electrical architecture and fluid specifications are all particular, and getting them wrong is what turns a small job into a large one.
Service intervals, fluid specifications and torque values differ by marque and often by engine. We look them up rather than working from a generic schedule.
Long-life coolants, DSG and ZF transmission fluids, and manufacturer oil approvals are not interchangeable. Using the wrong one is a slow, expensive mistake.
Modules on a European car share information across a bus. A fault in one place shows up as a warning somewhere else, so the fault has to be traced, not swapped at.
Stretch bolts, aluminum threads and plastic carriers do not tolerate being reused or overtightened. Knowing which is which is most of the job.
Chains, belts and tensioners on several European engines have real service lives. Missing the interval is one of the few things that can end an otherwise healthy engine.
There is a large gap between an OE-supplier part and the cheapest listing online. We will tell you which is which and let you decide.
Marques we work on
European Autohaus started as a foreign car specialty shop and that is still where the depth is — but the shop has never turned away a domestic or Japanese car. If you drive it, bring it in.
Diagnose first, quote second
Nothing gets replaced to see whether it helps. The car is diagnosed, you get a call explaining what was found and what it will cost, and the work starts once you say go. If we find something outside what you came in for, you hear about it before we touch it.
European Auto Repair — asked and answered
Do you only work on European cars?
No. European cars are the specialty and have been since 2002, but all makes and models are welcome at the shop.
Which European brands do you service?
BMW and MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen, Volvo and Saab, Land Rover and Jaguar, and Porsche. If your car is a marque not on that list, call and ask — the answer is usually yes.
Will servicing my car here affect its warranty?
An independent shop performing scheduled maintenance does not void a manufacturer warranty. Keep your receipts and the records of what was done, which we will always give you.
Bring us the European car
Call the shop and tell us what it is doing. We are open Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 5:30pm.
